Every negotiation your organization runs is only as good as the commercial intelligence the team entering negotiations has. In contracting, that means knowing which positions counterparties will accept, which terms are within reach, and where your team has room to push. It is the difference between entering a negotiation with leverage and entering it from scratch.
That intelligence is derived from the institutional knowledge built across your contracting history, but it has always existed in two inaccessible forms:
- as tribal knowledge in the heads of the people who ran those deals
- as unstructured data buried across thousands of documents that no AI can reliably reason from without having been present when those contracts were made
AI tools built on top of contract repositories face this limitation structurally. They analyze what a document says, with no visibility into the negotiation rounds that reveal where your organization held firm and where it conceded, the approval decisions that set precedent, or the workflow telemetry that reveals the clauses that slow down deals. At best, their recommendations reflect how the market negotiates, not how your organization operates. And stacking more point solutions to close that gap only compounds the cost and the complexity, without ever solving the underlying problem.
Making that intelligence accessible requires AI to be natively present across the full contracting lifecycle, not added on top of it. Ironclad brings contracts, workflows, permissions, and native AI into one connected platform, so every AI capability has context on the end-to-end contracting lifecycle and embedded governance to produce AI outputs teams can trust and act on.
Introducing Ironclad Agent
Ironclad Agent is the front door to that intelligence, giving teams a single conversational interface to access contracts and workflows, ask questions about their contract portfolio, and invoke specialized agents for contracting tasks. They simply describe what they need in plain language, and it surfaces the right contracts and workflows, routes them to the appropriate specialized agent, and returns with an answer or a recommended next step, all in the same experience.
Ironclad Agent also remembers you. Across sessions, it retains your preferences: what’s important to your role and goals, how you structure vendor reviews, which format you prefer for summaries.
The context it has on your contracting lifecycle is accumulated by natively embedded AI and organized by our Contract Knowledge Graph, a proprietary engine that maps every clause, obligation, relationship, and negotiated decisions across your portfolio, making connected context findable, structured, and actionable at scale.
A closer look
With this release, Ironclad is expanding its agentic fleet, with new capabilities across the contracting lifecycle:
- Generally available today: Ironclad Agent, Search Agent, Analytics Agent, Workflow Designer Agent, Contract Family Agent, Policy-Based Access Control
- Existing fleet: Intake Agent, Contract Review Agent, Archive Agent, Renewal Agent
- Early access: Playbook Agent
These capabilities work from the same contracting context and governance in Ironclad. Here’s what that looks like when they come together.
What this looks like in practice // Agents in action
A newly hired procurement manager has been tasked with preparing for a business review with a major vendor, Sedona Networks. She needs to understand the full picture of the relationship but doesn’t have any context from the colleagues who ran the last three deals because they have since left the company. So she opens Ironclad Agent and asks:
“What is our relationship with Sedona Networks?”

Ironclad Agent surfaces relationships with Sedona Networks as both a customer and vendor, with a direct link to access the full contract family.
To understand the spend trajectory, she asks for a breakdown by year:
“Show me our spend with Sedona Networks broken down by year.”

Ironclad Agent invokes Analytics Agent and it returns an instant chart: $105K across four years, with spend peaking in 2026. With the full picture of the relationship in front of her, she asks Ironclad Agent to get her ready for the conversation ahead:
“How can I save money on my contract with Sedona Networks when it renews?

Renewal Agent is automatically invoked to surface $10k in potential savings and documented obligation misses as leverage for negotiation.
During the business review, Sedona Networks sends their proposed new agreement. She uploads it and asks Ironclad Agent to get it into the right workflow:
“I need to get this contract signed with Sedona Networks. Help me kick it off.”

Without her needing to know which workflow applies, Ironclad Agent identifies it automatically. Intake Agent reads the agreement and pre-populates the intake form. What would have taken 20 minutes of manual data entry takes seconds.
With the agreement now in the system, she asks Ironclad Agent to:
“Redline this agreement”

Using playbook- and precedent-based redlining, Contract Review Agent flags the annual uplift cap at 4%: it is consistent with the Sedona Networks precedent, but above the 3% playbook position. She can see both where the contract deviates from the company’s standard position, and what their negotiation history with this counterparty suggests about how hard to push back.
This is what AI with full lifecycle context delivers: answers and agentic actions that are grounded in the commercial intelligence you’ve built over the years. It’s the difference between AI that pattern-matches against broad signals and AI that understands your business.
Context-aware governance built to scale
Extending that commercial intelligence safely across every team requires governance built for how enterprise AI actually operates.
Permissions and controls
Ironclad’s new Policy-Based Access Control (PBAC) is context-aware, not just role-based: it evaluates who the user is and what they are accessing at the moment of every request. Every agent interaction inherits that same evaluation automatically, so sensitive contracts stay protected whether a user accesses a contract directly or through an agent. And because access rules live in reusable policies rather than individually maintained roles, governance scales without permission sprawl.
Workflow configurations
To maintain that governance infrastructure, Workflow Designer Agent lets teams build, configure and update workflows through a guided conversational interface. Admins who don’t know where to start can describe how a deal should be routed and the agent translates that intent into workflow logic directly.
And as it builds, it checks new fields against the company’s existing properties, reusing what’s already defined and flagging conflicts rather than duplicating. When a policy or organizational change affects multiple fields, it can apply bulk changes across the entire configuration at once. It can also audit an existing workflow to surface gaps and inconsistencies before they cause problems downstream.
Legal playbooks
For legal teams building the standards that govern those workflows, Playbook Agent, currently accessible through Contract Review Agent, generates a first-pass playbook calibrated to your organization’s actual positions by drawing on historical precedents and existing repository data. Legal teams start from a draft that already reflects how they operate, enabling them to focus on more strategic work while helping every team member negotiate to the same standard from day one. Playbook Agent is currently in early access. To indicate interest, fill out this form and our team will be in touch.
The commercial intelligence advantage
Every negotiation your organization has run contains commercial intelligence that should be shaping the next one. Until now, that knowledge has lived in the heads of the people who ran those deals. When those people leave, it leaves with them.
That changes with Ironclad: teams can operate from a shared foundation of business context, so new team members onboard in hours, not months. And every deal sharpens the recommendations, driving fewer bad precedents, better terms, and lower risk exposure across the portfolio.
