We hear all the time that teams want to work within the tools they already use, and we don’t blame them. Who wants to open five different tabs to simply find out if an NDA is signed? Plus, people want to ask questions in plain language and get straight answers.
That’s why we’re excited to announce integrations with Anthropic, OpenAI, and Slack using the Model Context Protocol (MCP).
Now, when you’re working in Claude, ChatGPT, and Slackbot you can ask questions about your contracts and get answers pulled directly from your Ironclad repository. No switching contexts. No hunting through folders. Just the information you need, when you need it.
What is MCP, and how does it work?
The Model Context Protocol (MCP) is an open standard that lets AI agents connect to systems of record, like Ironclad, so they can retrieve real, structured data in response to natural language queries.
Think of it as a bridge. On one side, you have the AI tool you’re already using. On the other side, you have your contract repository and workflow data in Ironclad. MCP connects the two.
When you ask Claude, ChatGPT, or Slackbot a question about a contract, the request gets routed through Ironclad’s MCP server. That server translates your question into a search, which is powered by Ironclad Assistant, and returns the relevant contract data or workflow status back to the AI agent in real time.
You ask the question. Ironclad knows the answer. Claude, ChatGPT, and Slackbot deliver it.
How it works with Claude, ChatGPT, and Slackbot
Once the integration is set up, you can start asking questions about your contracts directly in Claude, ChatGPT, or Slackbot. The same way you would ask a colleague, but the only difference is you’ll get answers based on what’s actually in your Ironclad repository.
Questions like:
- Do we have an NDA in place with Acme Corp?
- Show me all MSAs where we capped liability in the last six months.
- What’s the renewal date on our largest SaaS contract?
- Where is the Johnson deal stuck in approvals?
The AI pulls the answer from your Ironclad data (contract terms, workflow status, key dates, counterparty details, etc) and surfaces it right in the conversation. If you need more detail, you’ll get a link back to your Ironclad dashboard to dig deeper.
What this means for your team
Find contracts in seconds. No more digging through email threads or shared drives. Ask a question in natural language and get a direct answer, with a link to the full contract if you need it. Results are scoped to each user’s permissions, so you’ll only get answers from the contracts you already have access to within Ironclad.
Check deal status on the go. See where a contract is in the approval process, who’s signed off, and who still needs to act, without leaving your chat window.
Make faster, more confident decisions. When your contract data is accessible right where you’re working, you spend less time tracking things down and more time moving work forward. Your team gets the context they need to act, without second-guessing what’s in the agreement.
Boost productivity across legal and procurement. Whether you’re responding to a vendor question, prepping for a negotiation, or just trying to close a deal faster, having contract intelligence at your fingertips means fewer interruptions and faster turnaround.
Why we built this
Business teams are already using tools like Claude, ChatGPT, and Slackbot to get work done. They are powerful flexible tools that help people execute and move faster, but if those tools can’t access the contract data that runs your business, you’re missing an essential part of the picture.
Ironclad is the system of record for your contracts. Ironclad knows what’s in your contracts, where they are in the process, and what’s at stake. By connecting to the AI tools your team already relies on, we’re making sure that knowledge is always within reach, no matter where the work happens.
This isn’t about replacing the tools you use. It’s about making sure your most critical business data shows up when and where you need it.
What’s next
These integrations are live now. If you’re an Ironclad customer and want to connect Claude, ChatGPT, or Slackbot to your Ironclad instance, explore our MCP documentation reach out to your customer success team or check out the integration pages for Claude, ChatGPT, and Slackbot.
If you need to go deeper–we’re talking about reviewing risk, redlining against playbooks, and managing a full negotiation cycle–that’s what Ironclad is built for. Think of these integrations as one more way to access your contract intelligence in the AI tools you’re already using regularly. The full platform is here when you’re ready to move forward.
We’re excited to keep building tools that meet you where you work. Because contracts shouldn’t slow you down, they should keep you moving.
